Get your previous studies recognised to gain entry into a programme and/or have credits granted.
Recognition of Prior Learning is a process where your prior learning – either formal or non-formal – can be recognised in order to gain entry into a programme and/or have credit granted towards your konae or modules/unit. There are two ways this can be done.
Credit award
Credit award is a process where credit gained elsewhere is recognised towards a Te Wānanga o Aotearoa qualification. Credit gained elsewhere may be from:
- Formal study at another institution
- Non-formal learning and life experiences
The following are some examples of life experiences and non-formal learning:
- Community involvement e.g. marae-based activities etc
- Work experience - paid and unpaid
- Formal and informal in-service training
- Community based education
- Self-directed study
- Non formal study
To apply please complete and submit the credit award application form.
Cross credit
Cross credit is when you’ve previously studied with Te Wānanga o Aoteaora, have been awarded credit for completing a konae or module/unit in one programme and want that credit recognised for the same konae or module/unit in another programme.
To apply please complete and submit the cross credit application form.
