Programme overview:

Today's employers require people in administration roles to be multi-skilled and to play key roles in the organisation. If you've got what it takes, this programme will give you the confidence to take on these roles or to broaden your skill set in your current employment.

In our relaxed and safe learning environment you'll increase your knowledge and skills to contribute to the performance and productivity of any business. You'll also know how to work well in a team and learn about good communication in the office.

When you pass this programme, you'll get this qualification:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology) Level 3


You'll learn about:

  • office equipment and administration processes
  • producing documents using a computer
  • customers and customer service
  • how to behave professionally and ethically in the office
  • writing minutes for a formal meeting.

You'll be able to:

  • provide administrative and general office services, using business technologies to support everyday operational activities in an office environment
  • process data, produce information, and perform financial calculations for business purposes
  • work cooperatively within a team, and contribute to the achievement of objectives
  • select and apply customer service techniques, to best meet stakeholder expectations
  • behave professionally and ethically, and in a socially and culturally responsible manner, and apply personal and interpersonal skills to contribute to the performance of the office

 

The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa with people who have business administration and technology skills to work in a range of supervised general office administration roles.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to operate business technologies and perform a range of administrative tasks, in accordance with ngā kaupapa o te Tiriti o Waitangi (the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi), and in a multi-cultural environment.


How you'll study:

This is a full-time programme that consists of 60 credits delivered over 20 weeks. Some of our locations offer different delivery modes. These will be confirmed by your local campus and might include:

Option 1 (Contact): 

You'll be required to attend:

  • 15 hours of class time per week, including 1 x 5-hour haerenga (trip) during the semester
  • 5 hours of tutorials per week

In addition to these attendance hours, you’ll be expected to complete learning activities designed to enhance your learning for:

  • approximately 8 hours per week

Option 2 (Blended):

You'll be required to attend:

  • 8 hours of class time per week, including 1 x 5-hour haerenga (trip) during the semester
  • a 2-hour tutorial per week

In addition to these attendance hours, you’ll be expected to complete learning activities designed to enhance your learning for:

  • approximately 20 hours per week

Some of the learning activities will need to be completed online. You'll need to have access to an internet connected device for this programme.


Entry criteria

To enrol in this programme, a potential student must:

  • be at least 16 years of age
  • be a New Zealand citizen or resident (or citizen of Australia, Tokelau, Niue or the Cook Islands)
  • reside in New Zealand
  • attend an information session and an enrolment interview
