Stephen Ward (Ngāti Pākehā o Whakatū ki Te Wai Pounamu) is our new Kaimahi Communications & Engagement Advisor.

He’s the go-to person for organisational communication related to our kaimahi.

Stephen will be working closely with Ngā Tumu, Kiriwhanake, and marketing and communications to keep kaimahi informed about what’s happening, and sharing success stories about the very positive work we’re involved with for our tauira and communities.

“Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and its staff are doing some really cool things on behalf of tauira and the wider motu,” said Stephen.

“It’s great to be part of spreading the word about that.”

His recent background in the Waikato involved communications work for Waikato University, the regional council and Hamilton City Council.

Stephen was previously a journalist at the Waikato Times and the New Zealand Herald and worked in newsrooms in Australia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.

He’s done a number of te reo courses and intends building on his skills through courses at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.

He can be contacted at stephen.ward@twoa.ac.nz or on 021 756 310.
