Tauira art exhibition Mai i Te Repo ki Te Ao Mārama opens 
Tuesday to coincide with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa 30th Anniversary 
Year celebrations.

Te Poutiaki Toi ‐ Art Collection curator Margaret Aull says the 
exhibition acknowledges Toi (art) as a founding programme for 
the wānanga.

  

Mai i Te Repo ki Te Ao Mārama – From The Swamp Into The Light 
refers to the “swamp” that Apakura and Te Puna Mātauranga sits on,
says Margaret.

The more than 20 visual art pieces include a range of raranga, 
whakairo and rauemi (multi media) fro level 5 to 7 art tauira from 
throughout the country.

 

It is the first of five exhibitions scheduled for Apakura Gallery this year. 
The exhibition ends June 22
